Anupam Kher says Aamir is not focusing on playing his character
Mumbai: Senior Shiv Sena leader today dismissed allegations levelled by Bollywood star Aamir Khan who alleged that his wife had even suggested leaving India considering the growing intolerance. Khan had also said he felt that a sense of insecurity and fear had been growing in the past six or eight months.
“I will kill anyone who says India isn’t secure,” Thackeray said while addressing the conference. “Whether it’s Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan or Chingez Khan, I don’t care! The next Khan that whines about safety, security or tolerance in India, will be killed,” he added.
Meanwhile, Thackeray lauded Saif Ali Khan for remaining a ‘true Indian’.
“He has riled up people on the right side of the Indo-Pak border. Pakistanis hate him after his Phantom movie,” he said. “The more a Pakistani hates an Indian, the truer Indian he is. My uncle Bal Thackeray was the truest Indian.”
The Shiv Sena leader, however, reserved his strongest warning for Aamir.
“You Amir, especially, let me warn you, the next time you say India isn’t safe, secure or is intolerant, don’t blame me for the consequences. Blame yourself.”
Veteran actor Anupam Kher agreed with Thackeray’s statements claiming that Aamir Khan has started taking himself too seriously.
“Just like his fans, Aamir seems to be taking himself more seriously than he should,” Kher said while talking to Khabaristan Times. “We are all actors, and he needs to stick to acting.”
“The situation right now demands him to play the role of a famous Muslim actor who is perfectly fine with the way things are in India. He should depict a character that only sees the positive side of his country and none of the intolerance, extremism etc.”
Kher said Khan isn’t doing a good job at playing that part.
“Right now the Aamir Khan we’re seeing is the one from Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. We need to see the Aamir from Ghajini,” he added.
